Well, I’ll say one thing - I am getting good at doing WP upgrades - I hardly have to think anymore as to how to do them. I see in this version - the plugins are separated into 2 groups - the active and inactive ones. I like this new feature. I wish I had more time to see what the new version has to offer before the ‘team’ comes out with yet another version.

I haven’t had much time to have a good look at the new version of WordPress. It is that time of the year when there is always work to be done both inside and outside the house. I really am behind in my outside work - I hooked up one fountain in my backyard last evening but I still have the Gardening Girl fountain to hook up. I finally got around to upgrading my 3 WordPress scripts to the new version - 2.5.1. I did the practice blog on my computer first - I have ‘Appache Friends - XAMPP’ on my computer. I install any php scripts on my computer first and play around with them before I upload the script to my web server. I didn’t have any problem upgrading this script - I had to look for a few things but I think I will eventually get used to where everything is. The Widget page is certainly a little different - I think I like the drag and drop method from the previous versions better but I shall see.

I then upgraded my main blog and everything went well - all of the plugins that I use in this blog seem to work with the new version. The script also works with the Talian theme. The final WP script I upgraded was one that I have been working with  on another domain name - I have been playing around with using WordPress as a Content Management System. The upgrade went fairly smooth - the biggest problem I had was getting the WPG2 (WordPress Gallery 2) plugin to work properly. It didn’t take me long to fix the problem and all is well again I think.

I am always glad when I get my php scripts upgraded  and working properly. I don’t usually have a big problem but one never knows. I always backup my database  and my files just in case something goes wrong. It is better to be safe than sorry.

Now that I have the newest version of WordPress up and running - I can take a longer look at it and see if there is a big difference.

Since my last writing, my only surviving sister has been diagnosed with terminal lung cancer. She hadn’t been well for some time and noticed lately that she couldn’t get her breath. Lung x-rays showed a large tumor on her right lung - she was admitted to hospital in March and went daily x 5 to a hospital in another city for radiation.
