I was not born until the year after the Second World War was over – therefore, I have no recollection of the actual liberation of Holland by our Canadian troops. Over the years, there have been several celebrations to mark this event. The Dutch have never forgotten the Canadians for what they did. I have a DVD with video footage and I have a book by the same name which describes the liberation and the feeling of the Dutch. Even though I wasn’t around in 1945, it is so gratifying to know that Holland will always be grateful to Canadians for what they did 65 years ago.
