I am a retired Registered Nurse – I nursed in psychiatry for 30 years. After retirement (at a very early age), I moved back to the city of Peterborough, Ontario where I was born and raised. My father was still living at the time of my retirement – moving back to my hometown gave me the opportunity to care for him (doing chores around his house, shopping, etc.) until his death in 1999 at the age of 89 years. He was still living in his own home. Since then, I spent a fair bit of time doing things for my oldest sister until her death in March of 2006.

My hobbies include music, woodworking, and computers. I also enjoy some sports entertainment - I guess I would list hockey and baseball as my favourite sports. Unfortunately I never played organized sports when I was growing up – they did not have organized sports for girls here in Peterborough at that time. The only organized sports were in high school and that consisted of basketball and volleyball. I was on the volleyball teams but I never was a great fan of basketball – I think because the rules were different for girls at that time – we could only ‘dribble’ the ball three times and then we had to pass it to a team mate or we were called for ‘traveling.’ I do envy the girls of today – I often wonder if they realize how fortunate they are – having the opportunity to play in organized hockey, baseball, soccer leagues and so on. I don’t suppose I ever would have made the national hockey team but I never had the opportunity to develop any skills I did have or learn new skills. Oh well – you can’t go back in time.

I do enjoy spending time at my computer while listening to a classical music station, a Peterborough Petes hockey game or a Toronto Blue Jays baseball game depending on the time of year of course. I have always been a fan of the Montreal Canadians since I was a child watching Rocket Richard and company. Boy, those were the glory days! And they didn’t get paid big bucks either.

Some of my time is spent looking after Angel – a Bichon Frisé who was born on New Years Day, 2004. She drove me nuts the first year but she has mellowed some since then – thank goodness. I have never owned a dog before so this has been a totally new experience for me!
